Step By Step Groom Speech
Step By Step Groom Speech 1.
Talk about the wedding, and why everyone is here today. This speech involves a lot of reflecting on the event and what brought you there. (I don’t mean the transport!) You can reflect on this by talking about how you first met your wife, or the day you popped the question.
Step By Step Groom Speech 2.
You may like to start with “My wife and I…” Why? Because this draws people in… and is necessary if your wife isn’t going to be making a speech. You need to make the speech on her behalf. Also, it can be good time to say “my wife and I” for the very first time! You can even mention this in your speech.
Step By Step Groom Speech 3.
Thank the father of the bride for the kind words he would have (hopefully!) said about you in his speech. You may also like to respond to any of the compliments or banter he made.
Step By Step Groom Speech 4.
Another thank you needs to go to all the guests for coming. You can leave this part out however, if the father of the bride already thanked everyone. This is up to you. A thank you should also go to all the people who brought the wedding gifts (not individually).
Step By Step Groom Speech 5.
Congratulate the bride’s parents on bringing her up well. Make sure this is done sincerely, as well – not a good time for accidental sarcasm.
Step By Step Groom Speech 6.
Talk about how you and the bride met each other. A few interesting and funny stories will work well here. Also, it may be good to talk about what happened when you proposed to her. Here is the time to tell a story about you and your new wife. Maybe talk about your life together so far. At this point in the speech, you will definitely want to be talking about your wife… this is even more important if she isn’t making a speech herself. Don’t be afraid to tell her how you feel about her in front of all these people.
Step By Step Groom Speech 7.
Thank the best man for accepting the role and making a speech. You can use a little light hearted banter, too.
Step By Step Groom Speech 8.
Share a few words on how you feel the day has gone so far (this should be all positive, hopefully).
Toast your wife.
