Wedding Speeches & Toasts

Maid of Honour speech Tip
If you are married, you may
wish to think about marriage
advice you've received or
have learned.

#NB The Maid of Honour
speech may be a lot shorter
than the best man speech.

Step by Step Maid of Honour speech

Maid of Honour Speech Step 1.

A Maid of honor speech is a lot like a best man’s speech in some ways, because it is a good way to have a little fun at the bride’s expense through humorous (and maybe slightly embarrassing!) stories.  Hopefully, you will have plenty of stories to tell about her, in the same way a best man would have to tell about the groom.

Maid of Honour Speech Step 2.
Thank the bride and groom for inviting you to speak, too. This is a nice touch, as a maid of honor speech isn’t always asked for.

Maid of Honour Speech Step 3.
Talk about your relationship with the bride, and maybe talk a little bit about what she is like to be friends with. Describe what she is like as a person and as a friend. It’s good to add some humour into this part, but also a little sincerity in equal measures to give things balanced and friendly.

Maid of Honour Speech Step 4.
Share funny and interesting stories about the bride or about the bride and groom together. Tell a funny story.

Maid of Honour Speech Step 5.
Offer some light advice on marriage or relationships. Make it funny or romantic.

Finish by wishing the bride and groom a happy future with each other.
